Service interaction is how the TV app can the interact with the device and its
user. The apps are setup to request and interact with services (such as NetFlix),
communicate and interact with the services, process commands and media, and
coordinate their use of host device resources.
Service Management – The user may need to configure a TV app so that it may use their services. The user may need to provide the TV app with account ID and passwords. Application Program Interface (API) – TV apps must be able to communicate and interact with device operating system and system services. Almost all TV apps get their content through the Internet avoid using TV broadcast system. Media Processing – TV apps may manage or perform processing of images and other media. Some types of devices that are well suited for processing video may not be as well suited for other types of processing (such as images or programs). Resource Management – TV apps must share the resources of a device (such as memory and processing power) which can be very limited. For more universal applications that use higher level languages (such as Android), more resources are required. This is why the first Google TV STBs were $400! | ||
